RFU Leadership Academy - Leadership Workshop - Surrey 2014Leadership Workshop

On Saturday 19 January, eleven candidates from rugby clubs across Surrey spent the day developing their leadership skills.

The one-day, interactive leadership workshop covered a number of areas including creating a purpose & strategy, gaining commitment and leading people.

From reverse brainstorming to feedforwards to Belbin team analysis, the candidates explored real challenges they face in their grassroots rugby clubs and shared solutions.

Two mentors from Surrey RFU - John Douglas and Malcolm Caird - were on hand to support the team.

Jamie Balls, MBE, and Carole Thelwall-Jones facilitated the event.

Carole Thelwall-Jones praised the candidates, "There was a great buzz during the workshop.  These volunteers are passionate about improving rugby.  Surrey has capable and committed people willing to give their time to take the game forwards."  She added, "Being a trainer for the RFU Leadership Academy is a privilege, and a lot of fun!"
