Surrey Leaders Celebrate

4 June 2014

Over a delicious dinner served in the Shakespere Room in Twickenham Stadium, members of the 2013-14 RFU Leadership Academy Surrey got together with their mentors for an evening to celebrate and review. Having completed the programme which began on 16 October 2013, the candidates shared the learning they've gained so far.

Taking insipration from previous graduates who have moved into more senior positions - from becoming a club chairperson, to leading a world cup recruitment project, to being elected to serve on the RFU Council - the group talked about the next steps on their individual leadership journies in rugby.

In smaller groups, facilitated by the mentors, the graduates gave feedback about the training that will be used to improve the programme in the future.

Surrey Rugby President, Keith Heal, presented each graduate with a plaque and certificate, endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management, to recognise their completion of the programme.  The mentors also received a gift as a token of thanks in acknowledgement of their contribution to the group's learning.

The evening was co-facilitated by Carole Thelwall-Jones who said, "Rugby is served by some amazing people.  I truly admire the dedication and enthusiasm of these volunteers from Surrey and wish each of them every success as they progress."
